PowerBox MPX - PIK connector

PIK Safety Connector System from PowerBox Systems GmbH sets new standards!

Building on the success of the familiar MPX high-current connector, PowerBox Systems has carried out further development work on this connector system.
We start by soldering genuine MPX high-current connectors to high-quality connecting cable to professional standards. We can offer conductor cross-sections of 0.34 mm², 0.75 mm², 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm².
The completed, soldered and checked connector is then placed in a high-pressure injection-moulding tool, and a special method (patented "hot-melt" process) is used to force a specially developed plastic material round the joints under pressure and heat. The result is an incredibly strong, robust and durable connector system.
Nothing can adversely affect this encapsulated joint: neither mechanical strain nor environmental influence such as heat or damp. The encapsulation is resistant to vibration, oxidation, oils, acids, alkalis and fuels. Temperature-resistant from -30°C to +90°C.

This procedure provides total protection in the area immediately adjacent to the solder joints, which is vulnerable to fracture.

In full-size aviation and car construction this type of "hot-melt" encapsulation is specified for all safety-relevant connectors, and only certified companies are permitted to carry out the process. These are not areas where heat-shrink sleeves are permissible, and we believe that all modellers should take this to heart, and adopt our professional connector systems.

The injection-moulded grip features integral indentations, making the connector practical and convenient to insert and remove again.

All our products which are fitted with MPX high-current connectors, such as the PowerSwitch and PowerBox Battery, are now supplied with these PIK connectors - at no extra cost.
We are confident that this development has advanced the cause of safety in modelling by a further important step.
Incidentally, the production of these connector systems at PowerBox Systems is subject to the same DIN ISO 9001:2000 quality norm as all the electronic products which we develop and manufacture in-house.

Note also the safety retainer clip, which is another of our in-house developments: this clip, which we developed in 2003, produces a totally secure electrical connection in conjunction with MPX contacts.

Our range of these PIK connector systems also includes the connectors made by the American Deans company. We use only original Deans plugs and sockets for these connectors.
